Can you feel the seeds settling into the earth beneath your feet? Can you imagine
their becoming? What does it feel like to embody the past and the future at the same time?
Journey inside the life of a seed. Travel through time and space to the heartbeat of place. This
participatory sculpture is a collaboration with the land.
Charcoal is one of the main ingredients of gunpowder. Used to remove toxins from the body, it is a highly medicinal material. Translated from Chinese as ‘fire medicine’, gunpowder was also originally known to be used medicinally. Chinese alchemists were said to have discovered it when searching for the Elixir of Life. Today charcoal cleans my drinking water and is one of the main ingredients of my work.
Am I breaking down or breaking open?
Something to consider as a voice from inside stirs, calls, beckons. A pulse? A heartbeat? A
drawling voice emanates out of the smoking cauldron.
I am a vessel of making and unmaking.
Interior landscape now exposed to the outside world, participants are invited to gift an offering to the fire burning inside. Like reading tea leaves or tarot cards, the unique ‘reading’ of flame to each person’s paper appeared as a gift back from the ashen earth, the smokey sky. Oh to witness a seed germinate!
